Ensue

In August (2011) I began working on an action to implement for the context of the Financial District in Boston. I was specifically interested  in positioning myself amidst the crowds of people that rush through Dewey Square between the hours of 8:00 am -10:00 am. I decided to fabricate a large gold-leafed bowl, fill it with fortune cookies, and hold it on my shoulders. The fortune cookies contained only blank pieces of paper. Over 200 cookies were taken within the two hours. This action was completed Monday, October 24th, 2011, 8am-10am. While this piece was conceived previous to the Occupy movement, it shared locations with the Boston encampment, and ultimately added to the initial concept and context for the piece.
